1. What will we need to provide you with?

There are a number of areas where we’ll need access to in order to get started. The following is a list of the areas where we’ll need a username and password for depending on the level of work we do and the scope of each project.

  1. FTP information (username, password and server)
  2. Shared access to an online email account
  3. Control Panel (cPanel) access
  4. Access to your registrar (i.e. for website moves or migrations)

2. Why do you need access to an online email account

As a part of our SEO process we register your business with multiple sites for various reasons related to the process. Having access to a generic email address related to the business allows us to quickly verify new accounts and take care of any necessary correspondences that may be required. For instance if we’re setting up a Yelp account for you, the account needs to be verified and having shared access to the email we used to sign up the account saves us time from having to request that you forward us any pertinent information.

3. Can the email account be one on our domain?

Yes. If you would like to setup a domain email address for us for correspondence (i.e. rankcentral@yourdomain.ca) you can definitely do so. This is the preferable way but an online email address will do just fine as well.

4. What will you do first?

That depends on what we’re doing for you. If we’re working on the optimization of your site, we’ll most likely first do keyword research and audit your website from an SEO perspective. We’ll have to analyze many aspects of your site in general, it’s position in the search engines and how your listings look throughout the Internet. There’s much more that needs to be done but that’s basically where we start.

If we’re developing a new website for you we’ll discuss your requirements, wants and needs,  explore examples of what type of interface you’re looking for and determine website which features you’ll need. If necessary we’ll take care of your content needs or accept content from you.

These are just general starting points, and all depend on the nature and scope of the project.

5. Do you do SEO and Web Design at the same time?

Since a very large part of SEO is directly related to usability (the users ability to smoothly interact with your site) a large portion of the work we do positively affects your SEO success even if we’re not providing any actual SEO services to you. If you’ve opted in for only web design work without SEO, your site will still be coded according to SEO standards and best practices.

6. How long does it take to start seeing changes in my traffic and rankings?

There are myriad factors related to why search engines rank websites higher than others. There are also a slew of factors that go into ranking a website and building it’s popularity. With that said, each project is different and must be approached on a site by site basis. We can say that typically we’ve seen changes in traffic in rankings anywhere from a few weeks to a few months down the road.

7. Do you create and manage social media accounts like Facebook Pages?

Yes. If you do have an existing social media page that needs optimizing and someone to manage it, we take care of this for you. We also create new social media pages, optimize and manage them as well.

8. Do you do the copywriting for various projects?

That depends. During the keyword research and discovery phase we learn a lot about your business, and we learn more as time passes too. This knowledge helps us better craft posts, page titles and meta descriptions, parts of videos, ad copy and so forth from an SEO and marketing perspective.

With respect to copywriting articles and or press releases, depending on the package you choose, we will either write for you or make certain edits to the copy you have already in place. Some companies like to write their own content so in those cases we could act in the capacity of an SEO consultant.

Regardless of where the content is sourced, it must go through a first phase SEO analysis to ensure quality control and that is contains basic SEO requirements.

9. What type of work do you not do?

There’s almost nothing that we cannot do for you but there are times when certain things need to be done by people who specialize in the service.
